Dear Yuba River Supporters
I’m launching this appeal at a critical time for California’s wild salmon. Whether you’ve come to SYRCL as a volunteer river monitor, a Wild & Scenic Film Festival goer, a petition signer at a SalmonAid Festival, or a steadfast member throughout our 27 year history—the time is now for your additional support for Yuba Salmon.
Why the Yuba? Because the Yuba River currently supports some of the best and last wild, self-sustaining runs of Central Valley Chinook and steelhead – species that are threatened with extinction. And, the scientific consensus is in: California’s unique runs of wild Chinook need access to the habitat blocked by dams to avert extinction. Salmon passage at the federal dams on the Yuba River is THE PRIMARY reintroduction action for the northern Sierra region.
Why Now? For the past decade, SYRCL has built a strong and diverse coalition in support of restoring salmon to their ancestral waters in the upper Yuba. Today, a confluence of legal, regulatory and planning efforts create a real opportunity for reintroducing salmon above Englebright Dam.
Our goal for this appeal is to match a generous gift of $50,000 for our comprehensive salmon campaign. With your support today, we can complement our scientific efforts with legislative and public outreach strategies to restore Yuba Salmon NOW, so that California may have wild salmon forever.

Executive Director
